Just thinking ...

I'm sitting here at my table just looking at all the stuff I have to play with. Ideas flowing freely in my mind but not having the ability to bring them to life.

The other day I just sat here and played with some Sculpey and some beads, it felt good to do something but at the same time I became frustrated because I didn't really make anything. I know its a start, I'm sitting here and I did do something even if there was no end result.

That brings me to a question ... does there have to be an end result? Can one just create and play for the joy of just doing it?

I think we get so caught up in the fact that everything we do in life is for a reason and there must be something to show for it. Why can't we all take a valuable life lesson from the children and just play, have fun and enjoy - be free to just be?

DH actually set foot in the artroom when i was painting, and said:

"You remind me of a kindergartener!"

how long has it been since I've been by for a visit?!? I am so loving the look of the page ... and, of course! playing feeds the juices and allows for experimentation without expectation - play away!

Sometimes it's so much fun to just color or paint for the fun and relaxation of it. I used to do it a lot more, and now that I'm coloring with my toddler, I remember just how fun it can be!

I know what you mean. I get frustrated because I want to finish a project once I drag everything out to start playing. I have a huge mound of clay that has been sitting on the kitchen table for 4 days now. It went from the start of a face, and progressed back to a blob of clay. lol
I think it must be like writers block. It is always worth it though, and it is never a waste of time to "play" with our crafts and such- because that is how ideas form. The kids have it right.. lets have more fun:)
